SCOTT ADAMS: “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
The Marks of a Model Mentor
A FEW THOUGHTS ON MENTORING…
Who are you mentoring?
Who is mentoring you?
Have you personally thanked those who have mentored you through the years?
A MODEL MENTOR IS…
“A sold out follower of Christ who answers a calling to use his platform to leave Godly thumbprints and footprints for a protege’ to practice and follow on his road to spiritual maturity!”
A MENTOR AND HIS PROTEGE’…
1. There is a parallel in passions.
2. There is a choice of the connection.
3. There is a recognition of potential in the protege’.
4. There is warning for weaknesses.
5. There is a push to persevere.
6. There is an expectation to be an example.
7. There is a releasing of the responsibility.
2 TIMOTHY 4:6-8 (MSG)
“You take over. I’m about to die, my life an offering on God’s altar. This is the only race worth running. I’ve run hard right to the finish, believed all the way. All that’s left now is the shouting-God’s applause!”
What a Character!
WHEN YOU THINK OF CHARACTER, WHAT COMES TO MIND?
Character Flaws? Character Traits? An actor who says: “I’m in character!”, a comment about someone else that says: “He’s quite a character?” Billy Graham said: “When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost.” Character is really God expressing himself through man! In other words, it is letting God have His way with you and through you.
Who you are in public showcases who you are to a degree, but who you are in private is the real deal. As Christians, we talk about being CHRIST-LIKE/BEING LIKE JESUS. Are we all the time?
I think it all boils down to this: Are you more interested in your IMAGE or being an EXAMPLE? If you have kids, it’s important because they are watching you big time. A little boy in kindergarten was asked to give his Show and Tell presentation to the rest of the class. The teacher asked the kids to present something that would let the rest of the class know more about their Dads. Well, the little boy acted like he was hitting a golf ball with a golf club. He then got very mad and mimicked throwing his golf club into the water.
ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI once said: “Share the gospel with everyone and if necessary use words!” Take this scripture to heart: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven!” Your character matters!
